Finding the ultimate Chanel slippers was nearly impossible. But I believe in faith, and my dream slippers has found me!

Chanel 2016/2017 Cruise collection was outstanding in the fashion history, when they placed the new fashion show to Havana. After USA was opening to Cuba, Chanel has decided to dedicate a collection for a country where fashion nearly did not exist before.

When I have seen the catwalk on the historical avenue of Havanna, I knew there is something different in this collection. The rhythm of the live music, parking cars on the street, people watching the show from the top of the building. Everything was vivid! So, this was the first time when I have seen my dream slippers. However the whole collection was breathtaking, somehow this shoe was standing out from the show. I was chasing them in several Chanel boutiques, when I was travelling around. I checked in Dubai in several stores and also in Vienna. They had a last piece in Vienna, but it was a very small size.

I have seen these slippers in some blogpost, I have seen on Instagram and every time I was just wondering how a shoe can be so beautiful…

While I was dreaming to get them, I was browsing on Vestiaire Collective. It was just one week after I have visited Chanel boutique in Vienna and I was so disappointed not finding them, finally I bought another leather slippers that day. So, there we are on Vestiaire and this beauty is just there. Size 41. Brand new, unworn, with box and dust bag. Just the way I need! Size is perfect, my other Chanel slippers is the same size! No way, I am not going to miss this purchase!

However the price was higher than the normal retail price, considering that this item is sold out worldwide, I do not mind to pay more for them.

The funniest thing in life that this piece was purchased in Vienna. In that store, which I am regularly visiting when I am in town. The seller is living in Slovakia, and has the same shoe size as I do. Of course I have checked what other items she is selling on VC. No doubt, his match was made in heaven.

This was the very first time I have purchased and item on Vestiaire, and I have joined the VC community only a couple of months ago. Knowing that a professional team is the warranty of the authentication was a key factor when I have decided to purchase on the site. I don’t want to pay such a high amount, when I am not 1000% sure the item is authentic.

The product delivery was not that quick, as it is when you order from Netaporter or Mytheresa. The reason behind is that the seller must send the package first to VC Office to Paris. After receiving the package, VC is doing the quality control, which is basically the authentication process. After the item has been checked it will be delivered to the buyer.

I got this packaged 2 weeks after purchase, but I do not mind. It worth to wait for it! I also learned, seller has 30 days to deliver the item to VC office. This meaning in some cases expected delivery time can be longer.

After this purchase, I have made some more orders. All items are sold out, they are “hard to find” pieces. Some of them were sold on original RRP and some of them are less expensive. On this site you can find both used and brand new items. If you are so keen on the condition of the purchased piece like me, I would definitely suggest you to buy new items. In many case the seller is also providing the box and dustbag with tags, and in some cases (especially more expensive handbags like Chanel Le Boy or Hermes Kelly) they also give the original invoice. If you are planning to sell the item in the future, this is also an important point.

High street and luxury pieces are absolutely mixable in  your wardrobe. Don’t be afraid to wear a simple 10 EUR T-shirt with your Chanel Le boy!

You need to admit we are all crazy for high-street fashion, especially for Zara. It is everywhere on Instagram, all bloggers are wearing IT pieces of the new season. You don’t need to feel a shame to wear fast fashion. It is so exciting to mix the cheaper pieces with high end designer items such as Valentino, Chloe, Celine or Gucci. I wish I would have the budget to dress up from head to toe with designer pieces, but it is not necessary to spend fortunes for clothes. I love to have unique pieces in my wardrobe, but fashion is changing so quickly. Therefore I prefer to buy some high quality pieces from designers and mix them with fashion pieces season by season.

Here are a couple of tips to build a perfect wardrobe. To balance high-street and designer pieces and a how to guide to avoid cheap looking.

Tip #1

Choose you colors

Every season I make a decision what colors I will wear. Pick 3-4 basic colors and build your wardrobe around this palette. This season I go for dark blue, black, white and blush pink.

I never buy random pieces, which are not fitting in my wardrobe. To have a clean, organized look is a key of chic and sophisticated appearance.

Tip #2

Focus on quality and not the quantity

High street stores are full with low quality polyester clothes, but you can find real treasures every season. Try to avoid cheap materials, which are looking worn out after washing them.

Every brand has a collection, which is dedicated to higher quality. Check the etiquette and find the following key words: wool, cashmere, real leather, silk and handmade. If the company is highlighting the material, you can be sure it is part of the premium collection.

Tip #3

Details are everything

Find some pieces with great details. Ruffles, applications, decorative buttons, gold zippers are making high-street pieces to look more expensive.

+1 tip for Zara: Usually you can find similar pieces in Woman and TRF collection at the same time. Woman is more expensive but it has better quality. Personally I prefer to purchase from this collection.

Tip #4

Basic designer pieces

When you start to build your perfect wardrobe and you want to invest to designer pieces always start with bags, belt and sunglasses. An everyday bag, which is standing out from the crowd is a perfect investment. Go for classical shape and color, and you can add more unique pieces during the time you are building up your collection.

I buy designer bags which are in trend, but I know they can be key pieces in my wardrobe for a couple of years. Before spending fortunes on designer pieces I need to think how flexible the style of the bag is. If my style is changing, can I still fit in my wardrobe?

Tip #5

Designer shoes and fancy design from high street pieces

The first designer shoes I have purchased in 2008, was a Louis Vuitton metallic silver ballerina from the finest goat leather. The color was perfect, but during the everyday usage the fine metallic leather had damages and it was looking terrible after a couple of months. As my feet was sweating the color started to peel inside the shoes and the beautiful soft leather insole become hard and the leather broke.

If you want to buy your first high-end shoes, go for an everyday flat. Avoid suede leather, velvet and canvas. This are not suitable for everyday use. You will also need a great pair of heels, what you can wear at parties and meetings. Go for basic colors (black, nude or dark blue if you want something more interesting) with some details.

Shopping was always a kind of hobby, but since I have discovered online shopping, I have experienced a completely different level…

When sales period is starting in Zara, all girls are very excited. They are waiting at opening time in front of the store in order to enter and find the pieces; they have tried on couple of days ago with 30%-50% discount. I am not feeling shame to tell you, I have done the same many years ago. Now, instead of focusing on low price high street brands and fast fashion, I prefer to purchase fewer items with a heftier price tag.

Living in a small Eastern-European country with a few luxury stores is not an advantage, when we are speaking about luxury shopping. There is a Louis Vuitton, a Gucci store in downtown and a few multi brand stores with high fashion. The selection of products is not that wide and of course they never have the items I am dreaming off.

During the last couple of years I have discovered several online shops, which is multiplying the opportunities when I want to buy the beloved item. By time I have experienced some trends of sales, new item arrivals and some tricks what I want to share with you to become an expert.

My top 10 tip for an online bargain:

#1 Choose your favorite online shop

There are some luxury online shops, where I suggest you to browse. They have different brands; some of them are exclusive at one site only. However I am browsing these sites every week, I have my favorite site where all my favorite brands are available.

My favorites sites:

Mytheresa   Net-a-porter   Luisaviaroma

#2 Subscribe

Subscription to newsletter is very important. This is the channel, where you will be informed about new product arrivals, sales. Online shops are sending vouchers and discount code exclusively to newsletter members only.

#3 Download the app

Most of us we are using our mobile phone or tab for online shopping. Check applications for Android and IOS. Some sites did not develop app for Android, but in App store you will find the most important apps for shopping. Useing an app is easier on mobile, because you can browse products more easily.

#4 Make a wish list

When you prepare a wish list, it is not only helping you to keep a strong focus which items you would like to buy, but you can also set up a sale alert for the products. You will also receive notification by e-mail or push up message when a product is Back in Stock or they have the last piece.

# 5 Choose the products wisely

When I am hunting for good bargain, I know I need to make a compromise. Not all brands are doing sales. We all know, there are no sales at Louis Vuitton and Gucci has cut sales recently as well. Chanel bags are never on sale, but you can buy shoes and accessories with discount.

You need to know, the product you want to buy is a permanent product or seasonal. Permanent products are never on sale. With the classical silhouette and color you can make a long term investment. Seasonal shapes and usually wild colors are seasonal products, especially when we are speaking about bags. If you can make a compromise with the color, you can buy an amazing Valentino Rockstud bag with 30%.

#6 Know your size

All sites has “Size and fit” description. They provide the size and measurements of the model, when you want to buy clothes. They give advices, when you want to buy shoes. Example „slightly fits small to size, we recommend to buy half size smaller”. All brands are different, especially Italian, French and American shoe designers. Trust these advices!

#7 When sales starts

There are several waves of sales. I start to purchase the items, which I want the most. Then at the second wave when they provide an extra 20% discount (over the 30%-50% regular sales discount), I start to browse between the categories. Using a filter is a key when you want to find some cute things amount thousands and thousands of designer items. I know the brands I love, and probably I am not going to buy some brands I have never seen, just because they are cheaper now.

My top filter is: 1. brand 2. Category (Clothes/denim) 3.size 4. Color 5. Discount (30%, 40%,50%)

Using filters are saving time, because you don’t need to check items they don’t have in your size.

#8 Sold out?

I don’t mind if a product is Sold out. I add to wish list. As item is back on stock, I will get an alert and I can buy it. It could be a returned item or retailer could receive more stock, you will be informed immediately.

#9 Don’t hesitate

Just imagine these sites are full with millions of girls hunting for luxury bargain. If you find something you like, buy immediately. All sites have free return and cash back (well, actually money back return  …but anyway). You are losing max the delivery fee, which is 13 -20 EUR approx.

#10 Check all sites for the best price

European retailers have the same price usually. Online sites, which are not owning the physical stock  (example Farfetch), but updating the stock volume and availability of hundreds of retailers are a bit more expensive but if it is the only site which has your size than 5% more does not count.

If you are located in Europe and you are planning to buy European brands forget the American sites. Harvey Nichols and other American online retailers are offering these products more expensive, plus you need to pay higher delivery and taxes.
